The Blebricks family consists of various sensor models, such as the environmental, touch, orientation, and presence detection’s ones, communication and power modules, infrared receivers, and mounting bases.
In order to disassemble stacked Blebricks, it is recommended to use a dielectric object as a lever and apply a uniform and weak force in order to not bend connectors.
The GPS Blebrick is a multi-GNSS receiver module with embedded chip antenna, supporting GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS navigation systems.
The user can configure the operation mode, as a trade-off between power consumption and positioning accuracy and reactivity.
The sampling interval is automatically set depending on the chosen operation mode. By default, only latitude and longitude values are given.
The user can request additional information such as altitude, speed, orientation and fix status.

The AlwaysLocate™ Mode is an automatic power management mode, aiming to give the best performances/power consumption ratio depending on different scenarios: basing on the module’s speed, reactivity is changed and power consumption can vary between an average of 2.7 mA to an average of 20 mA.
The IMU Blebrick is a 9-Axes absolute orientation sensor integrating 3-Axes accelerometer, 3-Axes gyroscope and 3Axes magnetometer.
The user can set the sampling interval, configure sensors’ full ranges and sensitivities, change measurement units, and chose the sensor output type such as orientation data (e.g. quaternions, Euler angles etc.), linear acceleration or accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer raw data.

The PDM Blebrick is a Time-of-Flight (ToF), laser-ranging sensor with accurate ranging and fast ranging frequency, allowing distance measurement, presence detection and flow monitoring.
The user can set the sampling interval and configure sensor’s operation mode.
Dimensions (naked): 22.5 mm x 22.5 mm
Dimensions (packaged): 27 mm x 27 mm
Default and minimum reading interval is 150 ms.
Emitter: 940 nm invisible laser (Class 1)
Distance measurement range: up to 400 cm
Ranging sensibility: 1 mm
Typical full Field-of-View (FoV): 27°
Supply voltage: 3V +/- 10%
Avarage electric current consumption during measurament: 8 mA
Operating temperature range: – 40 + 85°C
The PDM Blebrick has two configurable operation modes:
– Ranging mode: the PDM measures the distance between itself and objects/people. There are three different ranging modes (long, medium and short range) that can be chosen as a tradeoff between maximum measurable distance and ambient light immunity.
– Crossings counter mode: the PDM continuously monitors a region of space (typically a doorstep area) in order to count how many times and in which direction it has been crossed by people or objects.
In ranging mode, the measurement is accurate only when no warnings are shown. Typical warnings are out of bounds (the sensor is trying to measure an excessive distance) and wrapped target (when the target is too small or has an excessively irregular surface).
Crossing counter mode could also be used for a basic gesture detection application.
Additional information: Use the sensor in an open field with objects of appropriate size. Furthermore, the measurements can be distorted if used on reflective walls that interact with the optical cone of the sensor.

To indicate touch sensor status, the CAP Blebrick has an RGB LED with configurable color.
When the CAP is used in normal mode, the user is notified when the sensor is touched.

Tap on the icon to switch to latched mode: in this case the LED status is shown.

In both modes it is possible to tap on the icon to set sensor’s gain and to calibrate it or to change LED’s color.

The CMS Blebrick is a sensor that measures direct currents and voltages, and also calculates the power.
The user can configure the sampling interval. The full scale of the sensor and the minimum measurable current value can be modified by changing the Shunt resistance
Dimensions (naked): 22.5 mm x 22.5 mm
Maximum input voltage: 26V
Maximum input current: ± 160 A
Sampling interval: 1 s (configurable)
Shunt resistance: 0.002 Ω
The user can decide to view the data in generic sensing mode in which current values measured by the CMS are processed, based on the information entered by the user, to show generic quantities proportional to them.
For example, the user who wants to connect a pressure sensor with 4-20 mA interface to the CMS, will specify that:
The name of the quantity to show is “Pressure”
The unit of measurement of the quantity is “kPa”
The minimum current value is 4 mA and corresponds to a pressure of 0 kPa
The maximum current value is 20 mA and corresponds to a pressure of 200 kPa.
The app will then directly display the pressure values expressed in kPa, effectively transforming the CMS into a pressure sensor (or any other sensor with current output).

The RMS Blebrick is a sensor that measures the effective value of alternating currents.
The user can set the maximum input voltage, the full scale of the sensor and the multiplication factor to be applied to obtain the effective current value.
Dimensions (naked): 22.5 mm x 22.5 mm
Maximum input voltage: 26V
Maximum input current: ± 3.2 A
Sampling interval: 1 s (configurable)
Shunt resistance: 100 Ω
The RMS measures the peak value of the voltage drop on the shunt resistance; the MakeApp then calculates the effective value of the current based on a multiplication factor entered by the user, which takes into account the value of the shunt resistance and any transformation ratio of the current probe used. The multiplication factor is given by:
Where Tr is the transformation ratio of the current probe and is the value (Ω) of the shunt resistance used. The default value is 100 Ω.
N.B. To measure alternating currents at higher intensity or voltage, it is necessary to combine the RMS with an appropriate current probe.

Dimensions (Expert): 47.5 mm x 35 mm x 14 mm
Dimensions (Elite): 53 mm x 39 mm x 14 mm
Temperature compensation
Average current consumption during measurement cycle: < 70 mA
Measuring range: 0 ~ 0.5% VOL optional
Preheat time: 3 min
Response time: T90 < 60 s
Accuracy: ±(50ppm+5% reading value)
Operating temperature range: – 40 + 85°C
Operating humidity range: 0 ~ 95 RH (no condensation)
The sensor needs 3 minutes to warm up before it can give reliable values and it has a detection latency of around 60 seconds.
The sensor comes with an automatic base calibration, that set the lowest measured internal RAW value in the last 24h as new reference point at 400 ppm. Measured data can thus present high disconituities in values when sensor is used in a not well ventilated room for more than 24h. When opening a door or window after such a recalibration, the measured value will hardly change and stay at 400ppm for hours.
Do not use the sensor in the high dusty environment for long time.

Soil moisture range: 0 – 100% (±10% accuracy)
Humidity resolution: 1%
Capacitive sensor configurable gain: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32

The SMS can be used in resistance mode to measure the soil moisture, or in mutual or self-capacitance modes to perform different kinds of measurements, for example liquids level detection.
To adapt the soil moisture scale to the specific soil you want to monitor, it is recommended to calibrate the SMS in both “dry soil” and “wet soil” conditions.
Mutual capacitance mode is more immune to noise, however in some applications self-capacitance mode might be a more convenient choice.
The embedded sensor (placed between the electrodes) can be used as is or can be extended using the proper pads (X and Y for mutual capacitance, Y for self-capacitance):

When the SMS is used in resistance mode, the measured soil moisture value is shown. Such value is calculated basing on the “dry soil” and “wet soil” conditions that can be set by the user tapping on the sensor icon and then calibrate offset (for “dry soil”) or calibrate full scale (for “wet soil”).

Switching to mutual capacitance mode, the measured value is shown in pF.

Tap on the sensor icon to set the capacitive sensor’s gain or to calibrate it.
The same goes for the self-capacitance mode.
